Medway School of Arts is an exciting new initiative by MidKent College to harness the growing creative industries and demand in Medway and its surrounding areas. Situated in the picturesque Historic Dockyard Chatham, you will study alongside like-minded individuals in our newly renovated and fully equipped studios.
Our courses are designed for everyone from school leavers looking to develop and enhance their creative portfolio, through to those looking to establish themselves within the industry with an undergraduate degree. We will also be offering short courses too for those looking to improve their design skills alongside their careers.
We want you to achieve your potential as the industry’s next artist, designer or illustrator. Medway is seeing a boom in creativity, investment and growth – be a part of this through a qualification with Medway School of Arts! You can find out more Medway’s cultural strategy here.
All of our tutors have experience within the creative industries, and are best suited to not only guide you in your qualification, but to also provide key information and networking advice for your time after College. They’ll bring real-life examples of projects they’ve been involved in and ensure you are prepared for your next step, whether that’s another qualification or employment.
Their industry links will also ensure that you benefit from inspirational guest speakers, exhibitions and workshops to further develop your skills.
Our experienced tutors and qualifications will ensure that you have a rewarding and fulfilling career within the art industry – whether that’s as a merchandiser, designer or packaging designer – and everything in between! We’ll help you to develop your expression, communication and analytical skills, as well as giving you constructive feedback to grow as an artist. Your tutor will help you to decide on your next step after College – whether that’s another qualification or employment – and you can also book a careers appointment with one of our impartial careers advisers.
Situated at The Historic Dockyard Chatham, you will develop your creative skills within The Sail and Colour Loft which houses a range of industry standard facilities and equipment. You can find out more about our location, and how to find us, here.
We are working in partnership with Medway Council, the University of Kent and the Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries to ensure that our courses meet the needs of our students and local communities.
