Whether you’re looking to kick-start your career in the booming construction industry or are looking to take your career to the next level, consider an apprenticeship at your local College in Maidstone. You will need a confirmed employer before applying for your apprenticeship studies at College.
You’ll learn key theoretical and practical knowledge during your day release at MidKent College, to then put this into practice during your day-to-day role. The focus will be on using real-life case studies, and using your analytical, problem solving and planning skills in a range of scenarios.
Surveying
You’ll gain essential practical and theoretical knowledge and experience collecting information from inspections, visiting construction sites, measuring buildings, land and plans and calculating accurate costings and valuations of real-life scenarios.
Construction
You’ll study domestic, industrial and commercial building technologies and processes, as well as project life cycles and BIM. We’ll also focus on developing your management and project coordination skills too.
Building Services Design
Learn everything from refrigeration design, electrical design and thermal dynamics as well as general building service techniques and methods used within the design of building projects through to the appropriate scientific, technical and engineering principles used.
Civil Engineering
You’ll gain general civil engineering experience of using industry software and analysing structures as well as develop your knowledge of more specialist aspect of civil engineering with transportation, tendering & estimating, Hydrology, fluids & Hydraulics as well as Civil Engineering Management
What will I learn?
You’ll concentrate on specific units in your chosen discipline, but you’ll also develop your communication, teamwork and practical skills. Learning key health and safety requirements is a must, as well as green and sustainable construction skills.
How will I be assessed?
Your training officer will have 12-week reviews with you and your employer. Your course will be assessed separately, including an End Point Assessment.
What will I get from a Construction & Civil Engineering Management apprenticeship?
- A nationally recognised qualification
- GCSEs in English and maths (dependent on your previous level attained)
- Relevant and applicable industry experience
How much do apprentices earn?
Employers must provide their apprentices with a contract of employment for a minimum of 30 hours per week, which should include your attendance at College. Apprentices must be paid at least the National Apprenticeship Minimum Wage, but this can be increased at the discretion of your employer.
