The College is closed and will re-open to students on Monday 6 January 2025. We will respond to your emails and voicemails upon our return. Happy holidays 🎄✨

      • What will I learn?

Our study programmes cover a variety of treatments including facials and manicures to hair and media make-up. You could increase your earning potential further by learning specialist techniques such as Intense Pulse Laser (IPL) treatments. You'll also learn the theory needed for your career too from the bones of the hands, the function of lymph to more about the blood and the layers of the skin and nails. The awarding body for the qualifications is VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust) which is the specialist awarding and assessment organisation offering vocational and technical qualifications.

We'll also give you the practical communication and organisation skills needed to work in a salon too.

      • Why choose a MidKent College Beauty Therapy study programme?

Our Beauty tutors have all worked within the beauty industry – from cruise ships to owning their own salons! They’re the best people to advise you of your career path. As part of your study programme you will need to complete work experience in the industry, so you’ll gain those vital skills employers are looking for.

      • How is English & maths involved?

If you’re aged 16-18 years old, English and maths will be a key part of your study programme. You’ll study both subjects at a level which is appropriate to you. You can then use these when communicating with your clients or ordering stock for the salon.

      • What facilities are available?

Beauty Therapy students have the opportunity to train in modern salons at either campus.

      • What trips are available?

Get inspiration for your projects through trips to places such as Professional Beauty Exhibition. We also arrange a variety of competitions to demonstrate your progressing skills within   and our students also participate in the KFE's beauty therapist of the Year competition. Both campuses boast modern commercial salons where, once you're more confident, you'll practise your skills on clients.

      • What have your past students gone on to do?

Many of our students have entered employment in salons in the local area, or have become self-employed. One student continued her training after finishing her programme, and works for Harley Medical Group, specialising in microdermabrasion, laser treatments, body sculpting and facelifts.

      • What can I do afterwards?

Beauty Therapy qualifications can help you on your way to being a nail technician, beauty therapist or salon manager. You may even want to consider being a spa therapist or make-up artist!

      • What’s the difference between a Beauty therapy course and a study programme?

Traditionally you may have studied a Beauty course, where you would only study the qualification, such as manicures, massages and facials. A Beauty study programme is so much more than a Beauty course!

This change to study programmes is due to national feedback from employers saying young people need to have more than just a “qualification”; they need to have the skills to work in their chosen industry. A study programme encompasses the subject qualification, English and maths skills as well as work experience and personal development skills. You can read more about study programmes here.
