• Introductory courses

        Our introductory courses aim to give delegates an understanding of some of the key environmental issues facing the planet, understanding good working practices in sustainable construction and cover the basics in respect of solar power and its applications, including electricity and thermal applications.

        One-day courses are available in:

        • Environmental Awareness

        • Environmental Construction Methods

        • Sustainable Energies with a focus on solar energy.

        All courses are classroom delivered at the Skills Factory, Maidstone. Cost: £150 per delegate.

      • Practitioner Courses

        These hands-on courses are aimed at existing practitioners, enabling them to develop new skills and further develop their expertise. Courses are available in:

        • Electrical Renewable Energy Systems – aimed at electricians to install Solar PV and battery storage, also covers working at height and in confined spaces and introduces wind turbine technology

        • Sustainable Facilities Management – aimed at Facilities Managers to adopt more environmentally-friendly approaches to managing commercial estate

        • Installation and Maintenance of Heat Pump Systems (non-refrigerant circuits) - this qualification is designed for delegates from a heating background (wet central heating systems) to demonstrate their knowledge in the Installation and Maintenance of Air Source/Ground Source/Combined Heat Pumps Systems

        • Low temperature heating & hot water - this qualification is for heating engineers to be up-skilled in the concept of low temperature heating systems, It will allow them to develop their knowledge and understand the need and requirements for installing low temperature heating and hot water systems in dwellings.

        • Installation and Maintenance of Solar Thermal Hot Water Systems - this regulated qualification is for heating engineers who wish to develope their knowledge in the Installation and Maintenance of Solar Thermal Hot Water Systems.

      • The Retrofit Academy

        Over the past decade The Retrofit Academy has set the pace in retrofit training and support and MidKent College is delighted to partnering with them to offer the following accredited courses to meet the 6 retrofit PAS 2035 Roles:

        1. NOCN Level 2 - Award in Domestic Retrofit

        2. OCNWM Level 3 - Award in Retrofit Advice

        3. OCNWM Level 4 - Certificate in Retrofit Assessment

        4. OCNWM Level 5 - Diploma in Retrofit Co-Ordination & Risk Management.

        These courses will be a combination of eLearning and face-to-face tuition and will launch soon.
