The College is closed and will re-open to students on Monday 6 January 2025. We will respond to your emails and voicemails upon our return. Happy holidays 🎄✨

Alongside your main qualification, your study programme will help you to prepare for life after College by developing your ability to impress potential employers.

Every MidKent College student will complete up to 350 hours (determined by the chosen area of study) of relevant industrial placement. This experience helps you to develop your skills in a real work environment, and to gain a reference that you can use to secure further work. Our team will work with you to secure an appropriate placement. You can arrange your own placement, but it must be relevant to the programme you are studying.

Where have your current students completed their placements?

Our students have completed a whole range of industrial placements with local and national businesses and organisations such as Wildwood Media, Mitsubishi Automotive and Hilton hotels. Students have also taken part in the Erasmus programme in Seville, Spain, and travelled to South Africa to oversee the removal of old farming equipment and tackling environmental issues first-hand. Our Construction Trade students have volunteered locally at the Oast Community Centre in Rainham, assisting with community projects to improve a well-used facility at the very heart of the community. Travel & Tourism students completed their placements in prestigious locations such as the Cheltenham Races, The House of Commons, The House of Lords, and the Queens Anniversary Prizes at the Guildhall in London.

How else will you support me?

You’ll also be helped to develop a great CV, filled with your substantial work experience and skills, and guided through the job research needed to find a career. We will help you to grow your confidence when you need to complete job applications, as well as preparing for interviews and presentations. You will attend a work-ready interview with an industry expert to help you tackle your nerves in a professional environment. You will develop your employability skills by getting organised, improving your communication skills, mastering motivation and learning the importance of teamwork.
