Out and about in Medway
Our Medway Campus is a mere stone’s throw from the popular Medway Park sports complex – a pre-games training camp for the 2012 Olympics – which offers a special discount for MidKent College students.
The centre has a sports hall containing sports courts, a 25m swimming pool, squash courts, a multi-station gym and aerobic studios amongst its facilities.
Gillingham High Street holds an open-air market twice a week and has a range of shops, restaurants and cafés. Within a short distance of the Campus are the Pentagon Shopping Centre and Dockside Outlet.
Museums, parks and other local attractions across Medway offer student discounts, as do nearby entertainment venues such as the cinema based at Dockside, Gillingham Ice Bowl, Chatham Ski Centre, Chatham Dockyard, the Central Theatre, Fort Amherst and many more.
Out and about in Maidstone
Often referred to as the clubbing capital of Kent, Maidstone boasts an excellent range of bars, clubs, pubs and restaurants.
Within walking distance of our Maidstone Campus is the historic town centre of Maidstone – a beautiful and lively area with plenty to see and do for students.
Alongside the shops on the busy High Street, the town hosts three large shopping centres; The Mall, Maidstone; Royal Star Arcade and the popular Fremlin Walk. Throughout the town are a number of cafés and restaurants, from well-known chains to smaller, independent coffee and sandwich shops – always good value and offering a variety of menus to satisfy all appetites.
Maidstone has a number of attractions offering student discounts, including: a bowling alley, the Hazlitt Arts Theatre, the Lockmeadow Entertainment Centre containing a cinema and the Lockmeadow Market, and a variety of sports facilities throughout the town. The largest sports complex is the Maidstone Leisure Centre. Set in the beautiful grounds of Mote Park – 450 acres of parkland open to the public – the Centre holds a hall containing sports courts, five swimming pools (including a 25m fitness pool), dance and aerobics studios, a laser gun game facility, a sports injury clinic and much more.
