The Enhance Curriculum is a tailored, five-day-a-week wrap around provision designed to support EHCP students with significant barriers to learning, enabling them to access their chosen vocational curriculum area, with students benefiting from a parallel curriculum model, personalised timetables, and high support ratios.
Based at Medway Campus, our program provides a secure, supportive environment where students can transition successfully to College life and access both the mainstream and progression courses.
What We Offer
- Parallel Curriculum Model: Personalised timetables with high support ratios. This provides a base room and continued support when students are not completing their vocational course.
- Specialist Interventions: Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Zones of Regulation.
- Safe Spaces: Daily open base rooms (8:30am–5:00pm) with sensory spaces, visual timetables, and familiar staff.
- Dedicated Team: Programme Coordinators, Learning Mentors, and Support Assistants providing bespoke support aligned with EHCP outcomes.
- Skill Development: Focus on resilience, independence, employability, and social communication.
- Enhance +: A room specifically designed for students with a SEMH need such as depression, anxiety, suicide ideation or who self-harm, where we create an environment where there is a greater focus on emotional regulation, reflection and resilience and support with advocating for our student's needs.
Transition Support
From January there are a series of information and familiarisation events for families to start the transition process This is supported by an intensive induction process to ease students into College life, including:
- 1-1 sessions with the students and their families before starting College to understand individual needs and create a bespoke program
- An additional summer induction week and open events to familiarise students with staff, peers, and the environment
- Quiet enrolment options and ongoing support during the College induction process
Additional Features
- Emotional intelligence sessions and reflection activities (Enhance+)
- Access to welfare, SaLT, OT, and Alumina sessions
- Laptops and sensory spaces to reduce stress in busier college areas

Pathway to Independence
Our one-year program prepares students for a smooth transition into the wider College environment or onto employment, Earn to Learn or Supported Internship. By fostering collaboration between trusted adults, parents/carers, and MidKent College staff, we empower students to achieve their goals and thrive.
Am I eligible for the Enhance curriculum
All Enhance students will require an EHCP. Places are limited and College staff, along with a local authority consultation process, will assess your suitability for the program. We would like to get to know you well in advance of your start date. We offer transition programs and taster days to assess your needs and enable a seamless transition.
How do I apply for the Enhance Curriculum?
Please apply online for your chosen study programme, ensuring that you tell us about your EHCP and wish to be considered for Enhance on the application form. Students eligible for the Enhance or Enhance + will be identified at the EHCP consultation meeting and contacted from there.
