• • • If you are not already working within the industry, new qualification structures, coupled with our association with Joint Training Ltd (the national training organisation for apprenticeships in the industry), will improve your prospects of gaining employment whilst on the course.

      Our study programmes, which are hosted at both Maidstone and Medway campuses, are perfectly designed for those who are intending to enter the electrical installation contracting (or related) industry. 

    • What will I learn?

      Whether you want to work in the commercial or domestic fields, you’ll learn everything from electrical connections, terminations, lighting and power to health and safety. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on-site with our staff on various community projects, whilst gaining crucial theoretical knowledge. English and maths will be a vital part of your study programme, ensuring you have the literacy and numeracy skills that employers are looking for.

These courses are specifically targeted at those intending to enter the electrical installation contracting (or related) industry.

    • How is English & maths involved?

      If you’re aged 16-18 years old then English and maths will be a key part of your study programme. You’ll study both at a level that is appropriate to you. You’ll then have the confidence to be able to cost projects and communicate your ideas.

    • What have your past students gone on to do?

      Many students have progressed to gain employment or apprenticeships within large organisations including Transport for London. Others have gone on to university to further their study.

    • What facilities and trips are available?

      Some of our Electrical Installation students had the opportunity to work on refurbishing Sherwood Cricket Club in Rochester as supervised work experience. Students have also been inspired by a trip to the Ecobuild exhibition at the London Excel.

    • What can I do afterwards?

      You’ll have the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to enter careers such as electrical engineer, site manager or technician. Your tutor will discuss the best route for you to enter the career of your choice.

    • What’s the difference between an Electrical Installation course and a study programme?

      Traditionally you may have studied an Electrician course where you would only study the qualification, such as health and safety, practical wiring and installation. An Electrical Installation study programme is so much more than an Electrician course!

      This change to study programmes is due to national feedback from employers saying young people need to have more than just a “qualification”; they need to have the skills to work in their chosen industry. A study programme encompasses the subject qualification, English and maths skills as well as work experience and personal development skills.
