If you’re an adult returning to education, then your local College is a great place to start. We offer a range of short adult College courses and full qualifications to suit your needs.
Our adult students join us for a range of reasons. Some have taken time out of education for family, work or travel. Others are aiming for promotion at work and want to upskill to gain a qualification that will give them an edge. You may also be retraining for a brand-new career.
Regardless of the reasons, our adult students find a warm welcome, friendly staff, and a first-class learning environment at MidKent College.
You could study...
- Full-time programmes
You could join a full-time programme to either gain a qualification in your current position, or to retrain in a new industry. This gives you the chance to choose from our full range of technical and professional qualifications. This normally involves three days of College attendance per week, and you will likely be studying alongside other adults as well as young people who have joined us at the start of their careers.
- Access to Higher Education
If you'd like to go to university but don't have formal qualifications such as GCSEs and A-Levels to meet entry criteria, an Access course can help. We offer Access pathways in a range of study areas, with an emphasis on helping you to get qualified while building the academic skills you’ll need for university-level education.
- University-level qualifications
Our university-level qualifications (including higher-level apprenticeships) are accredited by our partner universities, and while they’re all great qualifications themselves, you can often go on to study a full-degree with exemptions from significant parts of the programme. We’re not subject to the same minimum tuition fees as universities, and with smaller class sizes and more access to lecturers our university-level programmes offer real value for money.
- Professional courses
For those who’ve settled into their careers and are looking for a qualification to help them to progress and upskill, our professional courses are a great way to evidence that you’re ready for the next step. We offer nationally-recognised qualifications in Accounting (AAT), Human Resources (CIPD), Management and Teacher Training.
- Distance learning courses
If you’re looking for something short that’s totally flexible to upskill around your other commitments, why not try one of our free distance learning courses? These programmes can be completed in 6-12 weeks, and we offer courses in a range of disciplines.
- Courses for Jobs
Subject to eligibility, we're able to offer fully-funded Level 3 programmes for adults in subjects that are linked to local skills priorities. Read more about courses for jobs here.
- GCSE English and maths
Don't currently have a level 4/C in GCSE English or maths? You can study for free at the College on our one day per week courses. You can study these as stand-alone courses, or in conjunction with other qualifications.
