Different programmes have different concessions and/or loans. Please check the fee symbols shown against your chosen programme.

  • 16-18

    If you are under 19 on 31st August prior to the start of your further education course you will be eligible for free tuition. Some costs may still be involved, such as trips or uniform, but this will be discussed with you at enrolment. There is financial support available subject to eligibility.

    (There are no reductions due to age on Higher Education courses eg HNC/HND/BEng/BSc/Fdn Degree)

  • English & Maths

    Free tuition is available for students enrolling on English and/or Maths where they have not already achieved a grade 4/C, or higher, in that subject.

  • Level 1

    Level 1 - If you are aged 19-23 at the start of this entry/level 1 course and do not already hold a full level 2 qualification, but intend to progress to complete a full level 2, your fees will be waived in full.

  • Level 2 Entitlement

    Level 2 Entitlement - If you are aged 19-23 at the start of a full level 2 course and do not already hold a full level 2 qualification, your fees will be waived in full.

  • Earnings Threshold/Benefits Concession

    Students who are not eligible to claim free tuition under Level 1 or Level 2 Entitlement (see Level 1 and Level 2 Entitlement funding categories), may be eligible for free tuition if they meet any of the following criteria:

    • Employed/self-employed with an annual gross salary below £25,000. *
    • In receipt of Universal Credit (UC), or other means tested state benefits with a take home pay (disregarding UC payments and other benefits) less than £892* a month (learner is sole adult in their benefit claim) or £1437* a month (learner has a joint benefit claim with their partner).
    • Unemployed, not receiving any benefits, but want to be employed, and the learning is directly relevant to your employment prospects and the local labour market needs.

    To claim one of these concessions you will need to declare your status and upload proof of your earnings and/or benefits during the enrolment process. The proof must be dated no more than three months prior to your course start date, and could be 3 months wage slips, an employment contract, or 3 months universal credit statements.

  • Free Courses for Jobs

  • Advanced Learner Loan

    Depending on your age/prior qualifications/earnings, you may be eligible for free tuition if your chosen course also has a funding category of Level 3 Entitlement, or Free Courses for Jobs. Please check the eligibility under those categories first.

    If your course or your circumstances mean that you are not eligible for free tuition, you may be eligible for a Government Advanced Learner Loan. For details of these loans click here.

    If your course is eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan our Admissions Team will send you a Learning & Funding Information Letter containing all the information/codes that you need should you choose to apply for a loan.  Please apply as early as possible. If your loan is not fully approved prior to your start date you will be required to start paying fees. Any fees paid prior to a subsequent loan approval would be refunded.

  • Higher Education

    Higher Education - there are no concessions available on higher education courses, however you can apply for a government higher education student loan. For details on these loans and how to apply should you choose to do so, please click here.

  • Full Cost

    MidKent College do not claim any funding from the Education and Skills Funding Agency for this course and are therefore unable to offer any concessions for students.

    This course may be run by other education providers who offer alternative funding routes and may offer tuition fee concessions.
