Energy Centre
Our new Home Energy Centre (HEC) at the heart of our University Centre Maidstone Campus is fully equipped with new technologies to enhance the learning and development of new skills for employers related to gas, heating and hot water. We're committed to equipping professionals with high-quality training and industry-recognised qualifications that meet both current and future sustainable housing needs.

What can I study?
The HEC is designed to deliver courses on the installation and maintenance of gas, heating and hot water systems, as well as new green technologies. We also provide training and assessment on gas appliances for initial or re-assessment of the Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS).
Our renewable energy courses will support the development of knowledge and skills related to a range of sustainable energy topics including:
- Gas
- Heating
- Installation and maintenance of air and ground source heat pumps - leading to registration on the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)
- Understand and supporting low temperature heating hot water
- Hot water (G3)
- Water regulations
- Legionella prevention and water treatment
- Conservation of heat and power (L1) to comply with current legislation and industry standards
