Course Description

This Level 3 course, offered as either a classroom-based day course or a remote evening programme, will start to develop your skills further in double-entry bookkeeping and management accounting

It is targeted towards manual bookkeeping. You will learn how to deal with year-end adjustments and producing the Financial Statements of sole traders and partnerships, together with gaining an understanding of the rules around VAT and producing a VAT Return, you will progress your knowledge of management accounting and the Business Awareness unit. There will be a big element of Excel within the course.

Level 3 consists of the following modules:

  • Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements

  • Tax Processes for Business

  • Management Accounting Techniques

  • Business Awareness

    All of the modules are assessed by online supervised exams authorised and assessed by the AAT and you would receive instant results for the first two units whilst there would be a 6 week wait for the remaining two units results

Other Important Information

Courses are classroom based at Maidstone in the daytime or a remote evening class is available – lessons will be a combination of theory and practical exercises.

The course fee does not include the registration with the AAT, which must be completed within four weeks of starting the course (at the very latest). Information and prices can be found at www.aat.org.uk

Future Prospects

On completion of the Level 3 with a Merit grade you could look to progress to the Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting. You could also apply for Qualified Bookkeeper status with the AAT.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have a good level of general education with good literacy and numeracy skills. You will be required to undertake a short test to check your current skill levels in these areas and an AAT online skills test. If you are progressing from the Level 3 qualification then you would need to have fully completed this and achieved a Merit Grade.
