If you are under 19 on 31st August prior to the start of your further education course you will be eligible for free tuition. Some costs may still be involved, such as trips or uniform, but this will be discussed with you at enrolment. There is financial support available subject to eligibility.
(There are no reductions due to age on Higher Education courses eg HNC/HND/BEng/BSc/Fdn Degree)

To claim one of these concessions you will need to declare your status and upload proof of your earnings and/or benefits during the enrolment process. The proof must be dated no more than three months prior to your course start date, and could be 3 months wage slips, an employment contract, or 3 months universal credit statements.

The esports industry is a rapidly growing and developing industry, being projected to contribute over £180 million to the economy in 2024 and rapidly gaining mainstream appeal. This nexus of a variety of fields, such as event production, broadcasting and online content creation, provides a verdant job market that is growing year on year.
At MidKent College, we are proud to be one of the few centres in the country providing this bespoke qualification, helping students gain the skills and experience for an exciting career in the esports industry and helping students stand out when applying for jobs in the high-growth sector.
Our BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Esports is a 1-year programme aimed at introducing students to the unique world of the esports industry and the various opportunities within it.
In tandem with the BTEC, we also run a unique, smaller course for Esports Leadership in collaboration with British Esports and the Leadership Skills Foundation. Unique to MidKent College this additional qualification develops even further on the skills, attributes and behaviours needed to succeed within a role in the industry. As a Trailblazer and verified Centre of Excellence, this qualification guarantees a student experience befitting of these titles.
By studying Esports Level 2 at MidKent College, students will gain a variety of transferable skills and industry-leading knowledge in tools that will allow them to excel in various roles within the industry through the following units:
-Esports games, teams and tournaments
-Establishing an Esports organisation
-Streaming for Esports
-Plan for an Esports event
-Start an enterprise in Esports
-Design an Esports game
Our Esports programme also offers extra-curricular opportunities such as Resilience Esports, our in-house esports team and partner competing in competitions such as the British Esports Student Champs and Williams Student Racing League.
The Level 2 Esports course provides a point to move into a Level 3 course at MidKent College, either in Esports or other disciplines whilst developing the skills to work industries such as marketing, sales, public relations, branding, event management, media, design and business development roles.
Four GCSEs at grade 3 and above including English and Maths.
