Course Description

Overview.

The Level 2 Diploma in Digital Audio/Visual Production course will give you a great introduction to the various industries within media. You will learn the theories and research the technologies and practitioners within a variety of fields. Whilst also developing practical skills in many areas that will prepare you for a number of areas within the media sectors. You will use professional standards kit and experience high level work experience with a variety of clients and projects. Industry experts will also enhance your industrial experience.

What is covered.

You'll study a range of units, with topics including: Planning & pitching, moving image, editing, lighting, Audio and animation. You will be using a variety of software including the Adobe CC suite, Premiere, Animate and Audition. As using equipment DSLR and video cameras. You will also undertake your English and math as well as develop a variety of IT skills that will aid your progression into industry.

Assessment method.

You will complete written and practical work throughout the year with units. There will also be an externally assessed final major project

Other Important Information

We recommend you equip yourself with a good set of headphones to help with various parts of the course as well as a pen and pad for note taking and lecture notes. It is advisable that you sign up to Vimeo and YouTube if you do not already have accounts with these platforms. Uniform for the media course will be discussed at enrolment however we expect professional attire that is appropriate to the industry.

All MidKent College students will continue studying English and maths until they are 19, or until they have achieved a Grade C/4. Your study programme will incorporate a Work Placement of up to 350 hours in a role relevant to your study. All students will have access to a Personal Tutor to support their personal and professional development.

Future Prospects

You could progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media to further your learning, after which you could then move onto Higher Education or an advanced Apprenticeship in a relevant industry of your choice.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including English or maths at grade D/3 or above.
