Course Description

Fine-tune your existing skills and become a well-rounded musician ready for university or a career in the music industry. This highly practical course will give you the opportunity to improve your performance skills, with activities including live band and solo performances, session musician skills, music theory, improvisation, composition and arrangement (using Logic Pro). You will also learn about key music industry organisations and processes such as, marketing, promotion and events.

Other Important Information

> Performances and practical tasks are the main methods of assessment, but you will need to complete some written assignments
> You will have the opportunity to perform in front of people in the theatre, live room and other external venues > You will also be encouraged to attend live gigs and performances throughout the year
> This is a study programme which includes English, maths and work experience in addition to your main programme
> The ‘Full’ Extended Diploma course will run over two years. Students are typically enrolled onto the first-year (‘Diploma’) of the programme and in most cases are auto-enrolled onto second-year.

Future Prospects

Successful completion of this course will create opportunities for you to work in a variety of music industry roles such as session musician, band member, performing artist, songwriter, live events producer, music teacher, music producer or music therapist.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs achieved at Grade 4 or above including English and Maths. Applicants are expected to have attained a good level of playing ability and must pass an audition on their primary instrument before joining this course.
