I chose this programme as I just love hairdressing and doing peoples’ hair. It’s so nice to see people happy at the end of it and it is exciting doing new looks. I find it really interesting.
I was going in a completely different direction but then I came here and happened to walk past the Hairdressing floor and I absolutely loved it and decided to pursue that!
At the moment I am learning the basics of hairdressing, so cutting, highlighting and colouring. I am enjoying learning everything, especially the practical side.
Theresa is a really good tutor and she prepares us by making sure that we are well presented and that we have good manners in the salon. She give us as much guidance as she can as to what it will be like in the workplace. We have had Jacks Studio come in and do a highlighting course with us.
I also work in a salon once a week as part of my work experience and I am really thriving. I would recommend this programme to other students especially if you like hairdressing like I do. There is so much chemistry and biology behind it and I love it!
I live locally which also one of the reasons I chose MidKent College. After I finish College I will go into work; the salon I am at now has offered me a job. My ultimate goal is to move back to Zimbabwe and own my own salon after about five years.
