I am studying the Level 1 in Hospitality and Catering and I chose this programme because I like the thought of cooking every week. I liked this subject when I went to my secondary school, Mascalls Academy. I chose MidKent College because it’s close to where I live and I get the bus to College.

I have really liked the pastry classes and I think they are much better than the larder classes. For my work placement I work in Oaks Restaurant and I help to make the food, things like chicken burgers and sausage rolls which go out the front to be sold.  I use my catering skills as well as my communication skills.

I get along really well with my tutors Chris and JJ. I think College treats you more like an adult and I like that we come in three days a week rather than five days like school. We use induction and gas ovens and also have the convection oven which is quicker and bigger than the other ovens and you have your own fridge and work area.

I would say to people who aren’t sure whether to apply then to come along to an open day which I did and I enjoyed it.
