Isabel Judge was nominated by Eleanor Williams, apprentice trainer, who said: ‘Isabel has exceeded all our expectations. The Food Machinery Company (FMC) recognised her sincere commitment to her apprenticeship early into employment and this led to her being selected to lead a highly complex event for the organisation. This involved a high level of responsibility and efficiency, including the management of transporting £3.5m worth of FMC machinery.

“Isabel did not just show how courageous and proactive she was, but she also showcased managerial skills throughout every stage. The decision to let her lead proved to be very effective in making the event a great success for the FMC, from saving a significant amount of money when planning expenditure to the 179 enquiries received post the event. Isabel is now planning a similar event for April as she proceeds with a permanent contract.

“Having sat the 11 input class sessions, Isabel continued to attend these classes with a highly regarded work ethic. She also willingly shares her end point assessment (EPA) experience with peers, helping to build a successful class culture.”

Carol Heyburn, finance director at FMC, said Isabel “deserves this achievement. I am very proud of her. During her time here as an apprentice she has applied herself 100% and from the reports from College does the same there.”

Isabel said: “Being an apprentice at The Food Machinery Company Ltd has allowed me to really push myself into situations I would have never imagined I could do before; I have been abroad alone with a customer and single handedly organised a trade show for the company. This opportunity has improved my confidence.

“Since starting my apprenticeship at MidKent College I have learnt so much about the behind-the-scenes of a business and how certain factors affect the decision-making process within a company. With the addition of working alongside my studies, I’ve really been able to put what I’ve learnt into practice and promoted alternative processes to my company which have been accepted.

“Now I’m at the end of the process I can look back on everything I’ve accomplished and see all the hard work I’ve put in start to pay off. I think that doing this apprenticeship has really developed my working skills and put me on the right path to a successful career”.

Congratulations Isabel!
