After the excitement of Christmas and the festive period, it can be really difficult for us to get back into our usual day-to-day routine. It’s normal for us to feel demotivated and face the January blues, but there are a few ways you can help to beat them! Whether you do just one thing from our list, or all of them, it'll help you to feel better!
Have a clear out
Is your house feeling and looking messy or cluttered after Christmas and the New Year? Have a big clear out and donate or sell some unwanted goods or other bits that you have been planning to get rid of. By having a tidier house you will also feel tidier, energised and ready to embrace the new year.
Set yourself some goals
For many of us, the new year is a fresh start and motivates us to try something new or commit to certain tasks. Make 2019 your year by stepping out of your comfort zone and set some goals.
Consider taking up a new hobby
Have you always wanted to learn a new language? Or maybe you want to explore your creative side? By learning a new hobby, you can open yourself up to opportunities, gain new experiences and make new friends.
Spoil yourself
You probably spent the last of your money on Christmas presents for friends and family, or indulged all your time and energy socialising throughout the busy month. Start January with some well-deserved ‘me time’.
Try and relax
Whether you prefer to relax by chilling with friends, going for a walk, reading a book or enjoying a nice hot bath; it’s important to take the time out you need to let your body recover. Listen to your body.
Make plans to see some of your friends
Instead of staying indoors and feeling sorry for yourself, make plans with friends to get out of the house and do things.
Book a holiday
A holiday gives you something good to look forward to. If you can’t afford to book one just yet, plan out where you’d like to go next so that it’s at least on your agenda!
Exercise - maybe even join a gym!
After indulging on all your favourite treats and drinks over the festive season, it is normal to feel sluggish and lazy. This is the perfect time to join the gym and keep active. Alternatively, look to join local running clubs, go for some walks with friends or check out fitness channels on YouTube.
Get plenty of ZZZZzzzz’s
Not only does it make you feel better, but sleep also has many health benefits. It will improve your creativity and sharpen your attention!
Be positive
January marks the start of a new year, new goals and new achievements. Start off by turning over a new leaf and surround yourself with positivity.
