Until April 2024, Stewart had spent the previous 11 years working for Ofsted, firstly as an HMI in the London region and then from 2016 as the senior HMI in the south-east region.
He now works as an independent consultant in the FE sector giving support to colleges and other providers, focusing on the quality of provision.
Stewart has spent his whole career in education, mainly in the FE sector. Beginning as a teacher of mathematics, he worked his way up to senior leadership roles in colleges, focusing on quality improvement and curriculum design.
During his time at Ofsted, he visited a very large numbers of colleges across the country and saw first-hand how the sector can be truly transformational to the lives of young people and adults.
