Who is it for?
This apprenticeship standard is flexible and can be applied to seven different roles - Electrical Technicians; Mechanical Technicians; Control & Instrumentation Technicians; Wind Turbine Technicians; Electrical System and Process Control Technicians; Electromechanical Technicians and Plant Operations Technicians.
On successful completion of this apprenticeship, apprentices will be competent to operate, having gained:
• Practical experience of the operation and maintenance of appropriate plant and equipment, during fault and normal working activities
• An operational understanding of industry health, safety and
• environmental working practices and regulations
• Knowledge about relevant engineering theories and principles relative to their occupation
Assessing competence
Independent technical experts from industry will confirm whether the apprentice has met or exceeded the standard (awarding a fail, pass, merit or distinction). The end-point assessment consists of three elements: knowledge test; practical observation; and technical interview.
