Course Description

All businesses need enterprising employees to drive their organisations forward, to have ideas and initiatives to instigate growth, and to ensure that businesses survive in this fast-changing world. People with enterprising skills can be a real asset to an organisation and these skills provide the basis for developing the entrepreneurial skills needed to run an enterprise. Enterprise is a key government focus, and is set to form an important part of the UK’s global economic status, both now and in the future. Enterprise skills provide a fantastic progression pathway into a number of roles in an organisation, and are transferable into all businesses.

This qualification is for students who want to start a career in business. It is an ideal qualification for students intending to progress directly to employment in a business, or to a Level 3 qualification or an apprenticeship.

This qualification has been developed in consultation with employers in the business enterprise sector to ensure it enables students to develop the skills and behaviours that will give them the best opportunity to be successful when applying for work.

You will study:
• enterprise skills
• marketing
• business planning
• pitching an enterprise idea.
Students will also enhance their broader skills in literacy and numeracy, which will be invaluable in supporting progression in other areas. In addition, they will develop transferable technical and practical skills in communication (working with colleagues, employers and clients), and research and project work (providing students with an opportunity to demonstrate their reflective practice by suggesting alternative approaches to a problem).

Future Prospects

Achieving this qualification will give students an advantage when applying for a job in business, or when starting their own business.
The types of jobs they will be ready for are:

• marketing research assistant

• business development advisor

• junior business account assistant.
