Course Description

In January 2021, CIPD launched a new Profession Map with brand new qualifications to equip Human Resources practitioners with the knowledge, behaviours and values underpinning the profession. We're an accredited centre, and students joining our CIPD programmes in September 2021 will commence the new programmes


This qualification is designed to develop a deeper level of understanding and application and naturally progresses learners? expertise in people practice. This course builds on the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice and is aimed at further expanding students? independent practice to enable them to evolve into more senior roles within organisations as people professionals.

What will I learn?

The Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management is awarded by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, the leading human resources professional body.

The qualification is made up of the following units:

  • organisational performance and culture in practice;
  • evidence-based practice;
  • professional behaviours and valuing people;
  • employment relationship management;
  • talent management and workforce planning;
  • reward for performance and contribution;
  • specialist employment law.

    You will learn how to develop the relationship between the employee lifecycle and how people practice connects and supports wider people and organisational strategies. There is a focus supporting internal customer needs and ensuring that business goals and objectives are delivered in line with customer requirements.

    Each of the seven modules are separately assessed, either via written reports looking at how your own organisation operates or through a practical-skills-based assignment using a supplied case study.

Other Important Information

This qualification can be delivered flexibly, and is available as blended learning with a mixture of in-class and online sessions with your tutor, or as a fully online course. It is also available either during the daytime or in the evening to suit your needs. Please state your preferred mode of study when completing your application.

Lectures, case studies, group activities, discussions and role play exercises are used to provide an interactive learning experience

Students will need to pay for their registration fee with CIPD and any books they purchase from the optional recommended book list.

Future Prospects

This course will enable you to develop your career towards more senior roles and/or progress to level 7.

The Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management can lead to associate membership of the CIPD. Upon starting your qualification, you will be required to join the CIPD as a student member.

Entry Requirements

This qualification is designed for students who want to learn about people practice and people should ideally be working in a HR or management role already.

Students should have a good level of written and verbal communication skills, demonstrable through prior attainment and discussed at interview.
