Course Description

This Level 2 course, offered as either a classroom-based day course or a remote evening programme, will start to develop your skills in double-entry bookkeeping.

It is targeted towards manual bookkeeping, but digital bookkeeping will be discussed. You will learn how to work with the Purchases Ledger, Sales Ledger and General Ledger, Cash Book and Journal and you will have an introduction to management accounting together with the Business Environment

Level 2 consists of the following modules:

  • Introduction to Bookkeeping
  • Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
  • Principles of Costing
  • Business Environment

    All of the modules are assessed by online supervised exams authorised and assessed by the AAT and you would receive instant results for the two Bookkeeping modules, results for the Costing unit are available within 15 days and it would be a 6 week wait for the Business Environment assessment.

Other Important Information

Courses are classroom based at Maidstone in the daytime or a remote evening class is available – lessons will be a combination of theory and practical exercises.

Future Prospects

On completion of the Level 2 with a Merit Grade you could progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting

Entry Requirements

You will need to have a good level of general education with good literacy and numeracy skills. You will be required to undertake a short test to check your current skill levels in these areas and an AAT online skills test.
