Course Description

Overview.

Our Level 1 Motor Vehicle Programme is a perfect introduction into one of the largest industries in the country. You will have the opportunity to train in our industry standard workshops and build your skills to prepare for our level 2 course or an apprenticeship.

What is covered.

You will study all areas of motor vehicle maintenance from engines, gearboxes and electrics, to brakes, steering and suspension. You will also learn about health and safety and the skills needed to work in the motor industry.

Assessment method.

You will complete an online e-Portfolio and practical tasks throughout the year. There is 1 online examination.

This full-time course also includes a tutorial programme which aims to help you to become successful independent learners, supports your well-being, provides careers guidance and advice as well as helps to further develop your knowledge and skills to become active citizens who contribute positively to society.

Other Important Information

You will need to purchase the PPE pack which includes overalls, polo shirts and work trousers. You will also need steel toe cap footwear.

All MidKent College students will continue studying English and maths until they are 19, or until they have achieved a Grade C/4. Your study programme will incorporate a Work Placement of up to 350 hours in a role relevant to your study. All students will have access to a Personal Tutor to support their personal and professional development.

Future Prospects

You could progress to our Level 2 Certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance, entry level employment or an apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 2/F or above, including English or maths.
