The best part of the T Level Science programme for me was the placement for the 9 weeks. It was honestly incredible and it’s definitely going to give me a leg-up on all the A Level students who didn’t get to do something like that!

I did my placement in Kings Hill with Kent Scientific Services where I worked in the food testing lab and also got to spend a few weeks in their toxicology lab. Because I was under 18 I only got to observe in the toxicology lab but it really showed me what goes on behind the scenes in hospitals and what goes into testing food and other items before they go on sale in supermarkets.

On the course you cover all three sciences - Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We’ve learnt so much and covered radioactivity, magnetism, electo magnetic waves, organic chemistry, plant biology, cells and more! The teaching and learning was really effective and the structure worked really well to ensure you focused on each subject area. College is different from school in terms of the time-tabling, there’s a structure but it’s not so heavily structured that it gets monotonous which was really great for me.

I like the idea of going into toxicology after I’ve completed my degree, but I chose Bio-Med because it covers such a broad spectrum and you can go into so many different branches of science. If I change my mind I’ve still got the wriggle room to go into something else – that’s what’s really great about it, you can go in so many different directions.
