I did level 1 last year and progressed to level 2 this year. It’s definitely a step up and I really enjoy it. College is such a big step from secondary school. I've learned how to work in a work environment and have work ethic.

I’ve made a lot of friends. I am happy with how I’ve progressed.

I chose MidKent as it has a good reputation. I am from Bromley, London, and none of the local Colleges stood out for me. I get a train every day. I received the College bursary which helps cover the cost. I wanted a new start which is what I got, and I’ve loved it since.

We are learning how to carry out a full service, pre-delivery inspections, and maintenance in the workshop.

I most enjoy communicating with all of the other people on my course. I like working with them and enjoy learning new things as it prepares you for the work life.

Once I’ve completed my level 2 I want to find myself a job in the motor industry. Ford came in the other day and spoke to us about apprenticeships, so I might go down this route.

College is different to school as at school you study lots of different subjects, whereas you concentrate on one subject here. The lecturers are great and supportive. It’s definitely a step up.

I think the facilities here are outstanding. We have everything we need in the workshops including ramps, lifts, various technologies and a good range of cars. At College there is an LRC (Learning Resource Centre) which is quiet and you can focus on your work and a social zone where you can chill with your friends between classes.

For anyone considering this course I would say if you have an interest in cars, then go for it. Definitely. And enjoy yourself.
