I’ve just completed my course studying a level two diploma in Air Cabin Crew. During this course we completed an assignment based on the roles of cabin crew and did lots of online learning about British Airways and getting to know the world of cabin crew.
My favourite part of the course was visiting British Airways headquarters in Waterside London. It was a really good day as we got to experience the day in the life of crew, and how it would be in real life training – it was basically a replica of a real day.
I chose MidKent College as it’s the most local College to me and the only place that offered the course I was looking for.
We had work experience going to Guildhall and going to the Houses of Parliament where we were representatives of the College, greeting people as they came in offering food and drinks.
We had a few guest speakers at College. Recently, we had the CEO and Senior Team from the Queen's Anniversary Prize, and he came down to share experiences with the College and to thank us for our time and effort. We’ve also had people from different airlines come in to share their experiences and talk about a day in the life of cabin crew, different problems encountered, etc.
My tutors have prepared us for a career in the industry by taking us to Guildhall where we had to be representatives for the College, greeting people as we would be doing that on the entrance to the airplane. Going to British Airways gave me a real insight to a day in the life of crew. It couldn’t have been a better experience. We also have a prep cabin so using that and doing day to day drills was very helpful.
After College I have employment set up with British Airways cabin crew and I should be starting with them next year.
I would absolutely recommend this course to other students, I enjoyed everyday of College and it really opened my eyes to the industry that I want to go into. Our tutors have very high expectations of us so it really helped prepare us for going into the industry.
