I'm studying Level 2 Esports. I’m really enjoying the course, it’s one of my passions. My favourite part about the course is streaming and streaming the games I’m best at.
We have our own folders that have the stream set up already, we import them and use them, so we don’t have to waste time setting up the stream.
In class we’re currently learning about the planning schedule of a stream and what equipment is needed for streaming e.g. webcams, microphones, monitors and what you would need if you’re a full time professional streamer.
I chose MidKent College because of the extra learning support. If I need to go anywhere else or if I need to talk to anyone, I have a learning mentor who I can talk to. I also have the lecturers and if I need any help I know I can ask my tutor or any of the lecturers. I feel very supported here and it’s a safe place.
My tutors have prepared me for a career in the industry by making sure we knuckle down and to know what we need to do to move forward. They make sure we have a good understanding of the course.
Career-wise I would like to go into coaching/managing or go into further IT/advanced Esports. Definitely something to do with IT as I’m quite a technical person.
Once I’ve finished College I want to look for a job, I know that if I need any help or support I can ask my tutors. I have good support here.
Before starting at College I would have liked to have known more about the background of the British Esports industry, how it all came about and how games are made. I’m hoping to go onto Level 3 esports next.
I would recommend this course to anyone who likes IT and gaming. It gives you a good taste of it.
