I’m studying the access to nursing healthcare course. We’re learning the reflex arc in a chicken wing and we’re applying to how that occurs in the human body. My favourite part about the course is biology – I absolutely loved it. Especially learning about neurons.
After this course I’m going to university to study nursing and hopefully after that I’m hoping to be an independent prescriber nurse.
I feel that this course is preparing me to achieve what I would like to do in the future. It’s also helped me to write my personal statement – the course modules related to nursing are very similar to what I have done already so I’m hoping that I’ll be able to fly in that first year of university.
I would recommend this course to other students. I actually started off in engineering and then had a bit of a 360-career change and decided to join the health care world. I used to work for a pharmaceutical manufacturer and I just got fed up so I moved to working to a pharmacy and decided I wanted to become more involved with patients which is what led me to this course.
I just wish I had done this earlier!
