I came to College straight from school – I chose College instead of sixth form as interior design is what I want to do as a future career instead of doing multiple A levels. The work I’m doing is already presenting as my portfolio.

I came to College as I liked the idea of having a big studio to work in, I also only have to come in three days a week which is better. The facilities and the staff are good, they’re very nice and helpful.

College is different from school – school is a lot stricter, College is more easy going. It’s not as difficult as school in a sense as you don’t have to come in everyday, we’re treated more like an adult.

So far, we’ve covered floor planning, auto cad, model making, how to make plaster from scratch. Our current project is on vacation homes – it’s very exciting.

After I’ve finished College, I would like to go onto university and do a placement year to widen my options as to where I want to work.

For anyone in year 11 who’s currently not sure what to do I would say just follow your heart and do what you want to do.
