I chose MidKent College over sixth form as I thought it was a better opportunity than staying at a school I have been at for years, and there were more options when it came to health courses.

On the course we’ve covered working with people with disabilities, anatomy and physiology, public health care and research which has helped me build on my knowledge of health.

I feel that College has helped prepare me for my future career as I have been able to interact with different people and organisations at the events that I have attended. It’s helped my confidence and I have gained connections and friends.
The structure is a lot different at College than school. You don’t get as much homework. I am at College 3 days a week which allows me to study in my own time. I stay within the health area whilst at College, instead of going across campus to various classes. My tutors have been really supportive and helpful.

Once I’ve completed my Health & Social Care programme I want to work as a GP or in pharmaceuticals. I have been accepted onto a 3 year level 6 degree apprenticeship at a GP surgery as an assistant. For the first two years I will be a GP’s assistant, then I will start to take the lead under the supervision of the GP, who will help guide me and correct me if needed. I need to pass my Level 3 and have prior experience. At the end of the apprenticeship, I can go onto working in a different setting or continue at the GP practice.
