We’ve recently done a project called ‘Age of Waste’ so it’s all recycled materials – we’ve just finished a big shoot on making an outfit out of recycled materials. We got our friends to model it so we could take some photos – it was very fun.
I’ve never really done anything like it before and it ended up being really good as well.
My favourite part of my course is definitely learning photography – I’ve never done photography before this and the amount I’ve learned in such a short space of time is crazy. Learning all the lights, the camera settings, etc the amount I can do now than what I could do before is really good and now I’m doing shoots for Sittingbourne Football Club.
I originally got into photography just from using my phone – I used to be in the Level 2 Art & Design course, I don’t think I’d be able to do this course if I didn’t have the Level 2 experience beforehand as it led me into the College environment and I feel that I’ve been able to work my way up to this course.
I chose MidKent College as I came and saw the College at an open day and saw there was a lot of opportunities and that it was a good College.
Whilst being in the College I’ve had work experience photographing other students for the tutors. I’ve done some football games for Sittingbourne F.C
My tutors have definitely helped prepare me for a career in the industry – they teach us how to be independent – I started out not knowing anything but I’ve learned so quickly.
After this course I want to do event photography so hopefully weddings and things like that. I might go and work for someone but I’m hoping to be self-employed.
I would definitely recommend this course to other students. Before starting College I wish I’d known the amount of work there is – coming from school having so many different subjects to only having one I thought was going to be a breeze but there’s still a lot of work to do. But I find the course really enjoyable, so it makes it easy.
