I chose a T Level as I liked the idea of doing a placement – when I saw that we could go and work I felt it was definitely for me.
For my placement I went to Maidstone hospital – I was in an orthopaedic unit, I absolutely loved it. I’m going back in January as a Health Care Support worker which I’m really excited for.
During my time there I got to do pre and post op observations, getting patients mobilised after surgery, observations like blood pressure, heart rate, etc. Within the nine weeks I was there I learnt so much.
I like my course as I’m a very hands-on person and I learn better when I’m doing more practical things rather than being in a classroom. I’m doing my exams this week and feel I have better knowledge after doing my placement.
I really like that my T Level is the equivalent to three A levels. It gives me more options post College; I can do an apprenticeship, or I can go to university rather than having a standard College qualification. It’s also great for UCAS.
I chose MidKent as it’s the closest College to where I live. I also learnt a lot when they visited my school when I was in year 11 for the careers event and it always appealed to me. It seemed like the best course for me as well.
I really like it here as I came to the College on my own without knowing anyone and I’ve made my best friends now and it’s a really nice positive environment.
I would 100% recommend the T Level programme to future students especially health care. You gain so much experience from the work placement alone that you can put on your CV so it’s definitely worth it.
After College I want to do an apprenticeship with the hospital as a Registered Nurse or go to university.
