I enjoyed studying Law at A level but lacked the GCSE to follow that to university so I decided to look for an alternative at College. Due to my talent in maths and the career connection to law I believed accountancy was the best choice for me.
My siblings previously studied at MidKent College, so I was familiar with the environment. Along with the convenient commute, I decided the College was the best option available.
I have learnt the basics of bookkeeping along with principles of bookkeeping controls costing. This meant I learnt financial accounting and the beginnings of management accounting with so far one exam completed. The most enjoyable part was learning with my peers. The discussions we have had made learning the course fun and enlightening.
Deborah has us looking though websites such as ‘Indeed’ looking at careers in accounting and keeping us aware of apprenticeships available, along with having visitors come in to talk to the class about paths in the career. She understands our short comings and helps us improve to get our best grades we can.
My plan with the qualification is to go into an apprenticeship. My goal is to get the hardest qualification possible for an accountant and pursue the best job I can get.
I would recommend MidKent College as it provides the most variety in courses and opportunities, the environment is one of the best around with a safe and offering valuable opportunities for most people.
