I’ve always wanted to be a performer and I didn’t think sixth form was the place to be. I had my heart set on Performing Arts, and I thought I need to do it and I saw the opportunities available at College and thought that was the best choice for me.
We are currently in project two which is a showcase about unity, and we must devise our own group pieces and then we have got other parts of the performance that the tutors teach us. We’re also learning about different techniques from performing and dance practitioners and how we can use them in our own work.
I love the opportunities available; you’re always getting support from your tutors to do more. I came to College just wanting to do dance, I didn’t want to sing or act but then last year it all changed. My teacher helped me to discover the passion for these areas too.
Currently, I’ve got auditions coming up so my tutors have helped me by going through audition prep, learning monologues, songs and what would happen in an audition scenario as well as professionalism and discipline so you’re ready to go off into the real world.
We went to see Rock of Ages as we did this for our final major project. It made us realise what the professionals do, and it inspired me to use this in my own work.
I would 100% recommend this programme to other students.
I chose MidKent College as I didn’t think sixth form was the right thing for me and I didn’t want to study other subjects that I didn’t have an interest in. There are industry professionals teaching us so it prepares you for the real world and it’s just where I want to be.
I want to continue my studies at university doing Performing Arts.
