I chose MidKent due to the proximity to where I live, the course choices and facilities. I came along to an open day and liked what I saw. I am a very creative person so Games Design is a great outlet that I prefer as it’s something I have experience in already and something I want to do in the future.
We have worked on modelling, rigging, simulation, roaring, prospective, visual programming and have used software’s such as Mindbox and unreal engine and google based writing services.
I enjoy modelling the most. I like building things; it offers me the amount of creative development that nothing else does.
I don’t have anything bad to say about the facilities, tutors have been really good. We have had a good variety of tutors teach us various topics. We have had some one-to-one support too which is helpful. Tutors such as Steve have experience of making, developing and releasing games in the industry which is really reassuring and offers an unparallel amount of knowledge which is really cool.
College is more independent and freeing compared to school, you are treated like an adult, you need to remember to push yourself too, but you can do this at your own pace.
After College I plan on going to university and start doing some work on the side in terms of modelling, seeing if I can sell high quality models and seeing where games will take me in the future. Hopefully I will get a job in the industry after university.
For someone in year 11 thinking about applying to College I would say you should consider College, especially if you are struggling with school as College gives you more freedom.
