I started playing ice hockey when I was 11. My interest was sparked when I went on a family holiday to Canada. We went ice skating and I saw others playing hockey and just wanted to try it.

When I got home I joined a learn-to-skate programme and then joined an ice hockey team at our local ice rink and just went from there!

My international games start when I was invited to take part in the under-13s England trials and made that team, then moved up to the under-16s England Team. Unfortunately, then Covid happened but after that, I was invited to a trial for the Great Britain over 16s team. From there I made my way up to the under-18s GB Team.

I played in the World Championships last year and we played 4th. Then in November last year, I played in the Four Nations where we came 2nd, and then the latest World Championship.

When I play ice hockey, everything else seems to melt away – all your thoughts and worries! I like the team environment and I play with people from all around the UK.

My tutors have really supported me and offered me more help when I’ve needed it to get assignments done before this last tournament. I have to manage my time well. They’ve all been really positive about it and we all get on really well in our class.
I really enjoy learning more about the body and sports and I want to be an Exercise Physiologist.

I want to go up to the Level 3 Sports & Exercise Science course next and then hopefully university from there. I came to an open day and induction day, and I really wanted to focus on just one thing (sport) so it really suited me.
