Are you currently studying or have just finished a Hairdressing programme and are not sure what you want to do next? Don't worry - we're here to help you succeed in the industry! There are many alternative jobs for qualified hairdressers other than working in a salon. Find out more below.

We’ve done some investigating and have found the following jobs you can go into when you’ve completed your programme.

Corporate trainer – you can travel to salons or spas and teach their employees about products, new techniques or guidelines

Pet groomer – the skills you’ve gained from hairdressing such as patience, cutting techniques and customer service skills will help when it comes to grooming dogs. You can either work in a salon or build up your own clientele and work your own hours

Wig maker – you’ll have the knowledge of extensions application, styling and colouring which will help when making wigs. As a wig maker, you’ll need to create lots of wigs within set deadlines to keep your clients happy.

Technical writer – you’ll be able to write about a specific niche such as hairdressing or a specific skill you’ve learnt. You can look for companies that want writers for blogs, articles or websites. This is a job that can be quite flexible meaning you’re self-employed, but some companies might hire you directly

Influencer/social media marketer – a career that has been up and coming in recent years since the world of social media has expanded. If you have the right marketing and skills combined with your hairdressing niche, you can make money from social media. You can share your skills with others, create new looks online, test out new products/techniques, blog about your day-to-day life and so much more.
