Mollie Platts is studying the Level 2 in Painting and Decorating apprenticeship and is employed by Ian Williams Ltd. She attends our Maidstone Campus on a day release basis and is really enjoying learning a trade. Could a Construction Trades apprenticeship be an option for you? Now's the time to apply!

Her supervisor Jake Brooks has worked with Mollie for almost a year since she started. He said:

“Mollie is getting on brilliantly. You can trust her doing anything. She is always on time, listens to me, takes advice and is very willing. She is motivated and you can show her something once and usually she can do it straight away. We have qualified painters in the company and she is better than some of them. Lately, she has been working on a prestige job in Tunbridge Wells and Mollie was the only apprentice chosen to work on the project, converting a listed property into flats, some valued at £1.2 million.”

Her training supervisor at MidKent College, Christina Wilson, said "I have had great feedback from managers regarding Mollie and her work and progress on site. She completes work in college that is set and with good feedback from her tutor. She has demonstrated focus, working progressively on her evidence on site to build her portfolio. She has made a really great start to her apprenticeship and has fulfilled all expectations."

We also asked Mollie about her apprenticeship:

“I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship so far. I have fallen in love with painting and decorating and I’m excited to see how far I can go in the trade. I have learnt so much in a short period of time on site and in College. Everyone I have worked with has been lovely which was so nice as coming into a trade as a woman was a big worry for me but it’s definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
