The move from school to College can be scary - whether you're a parent supporting your son or daughter through enrolment or a new student worried about the process, we're here to help!
What is enrolment?
Enrolment is the last stage in the process of becoming a MidKent College student! It's a two-step process - the first part requiring you to log into an online portal to upload more information, followed by an in-person appointment to confirm your place later on in August.
If you’ve applied for a programme, attended an interview and been offered a place, you will receive (or will have already received) an email with a link to complete the online part of your enrolment. Once you've logged into the enrolment portal you'll need to confirm the programme you are enrolling on, complete any outstanding information and upload a photo of yourself. You can also upload GCSE results at this point, if you have them.
The date that you need to attend your in-campus appointment will appear on the front page of the portal once you have logged in. At your appointment you will meet your tutor to confirm your place, get further details on uniform requirements and where to order it, and you’ll be able to ask any questions you have. You may need to bring along proof of your GCSE results if you've not already uploaded these to the portal.
I'm worried I won't get the right grades to start my programme. What shall I do?
You should still complete your online enrolment via the link we have sent you by email and then still attend your enrolment session on campus. If your results are not quite as expected, we’ll do our best to accomodate you on another programme or another level of study, subject to availability. We know that receiving exam results is a really stressful time and not getting the grades you were expecting is upsetting, but please do come along to your appointment - we're here to help!
I'm worried about my English and/or Maths grades, will I still be able to re-sit these?
Our tutors will be able to talk you through your options as part of the enrolment process. Students who achieve a grade 3 or below in English and maths will be able to re-sit them at College to achieve a grade 4.
All of my friends are have had their online enrolment link, but I didn’t get an email, what shall I do?
Firstly, double check your inbox and your spam folder! If you don't have the enrolment email please ring our applications team to confirm the next step for you on 01634 383140 or complete the enquiry form.
Why does my friend have a different enrolment date than me?
Different subject areas will be enrolling on different days in August so if they have applied for a different programme, it's likely you won't be coming along at the same time/date. Sometimes, even if you applied for the same programme, you may be enrolling at a different time if one of you has made a late application.
I am on holiday when I am due to come in for my face-to-face enrolment. What should I do?
Please contact our Admissions Team to let them know and they will confirm another date for you to come along and complete your enrolment.
I'm doing an apprenticeship, when do I enrol?
You'll receive an email from the Apprenticeships Team to confirm your enrolment date.
I haven’t applied yet, is it too late?
No, we still have places available on selected programmes. To make a late application, in the first instance you must apply on our website here. If a programme is marked as full on the website, you will not be able to apply. Once you've applied, our Admissions Team will contact you to confirm the status of the course and let you know your next steps. If the course has become full, then you may be added to a waiting list, in which case you'll be contacted if or when a place becomes available.
Can I pay my fees at enrolment?
If you’re aged 16-18 then your programme is free. If you’re 19+ you will be able to pay for your fees at enrolment, start an instalment plan, or find about any concessions you may be eligible for.
Will I get any help with fees/travel/childcare?
Yes, you may be eligible to apply for the College bursary, depending on your circumstances. We have a student financial support team here to help you. Check out your options here, or talk to one of our advisers at your enrolment session.
Who can I contact during the summer if I have any questions?
Our Course Enquiries, Student Financial Support, Careers and Admissions teams are available all summer should you need more information about your place or about applying to College. You can find their contact information here. Alternatively, contact us via our Live Chat on the website.
