We were thrilled that Animal Care student Molly Treves was shortlisted for a prize in the UCA “You Create” competition based on the theme of “Change”.
Entrants could choose to create a film, sculpture, poem, painting, textile or photo to fit in with this theme. Molly was one of 20 finalists, chosen out of 120 entries from schools and colleges across Kent. Judged by a panel of creative professionals, Molly’s entry was a written piece detailing her experiences of living with disability and chronic illness. Titled “Good Enough For Me”, Molly talks frankly and often humorously about her feelings and how she came to realise that despite her worries, she is “good enough”:
“I have?realised?that I want to live a happier more content version of my life. By doing this I have decided not to care about people's opinions and high standards of me. In addition, I will say ‘I am good enough’ for the amount I have endured. By changing my?thinking?I have changed part of my life.”
Molly’s piece is being exhibited along with the other finalists and winners as part of a virtual showcase which can be viewed here: https://www.uca.ac.uk/kamcop/competition/
Molly is looking forward to continuing her studies at MIdKent this September, progressing up to Level 3 Animal Management.
Well done Molly – what a great achievement!
