On Wednesday 28 June, MidKent College held its annual Student Awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of its Maidstone and Medway campus students with alumni guest speaker Charlotte Evans MBE.

Tutors nominated students for multiple award categories including The Green Award, Student of the Year Award, the Digital Excellence Award and many more.

This year, finalists and their guests were treated to a three-course dinner cooked by Hospitality & Catering students at The Corn Exchange in Rochester, as well as an exciting guest speaker. Charlotte Evans MBE is a former MidKent College Sports student who has since gone on to have an incredibly exciting career which included her winning gold in the women’s Super-G at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games. Alongside the guest speaker, there were performances from the College’s Performing Arts and Music students.

Charlotte Evans MBE said “It was an honour to be the speaker at the Student Awards evening. As a past student, I felt like I was back home and loved celebrating all the achievements of the students this year. Resilience and choice are a powerful thing; we can choose to listen to the failures or negatives from individuals or we can have the power to turn them into positives. We decide what our futures look like - no one else can. Good luck with your next adventures.”

Principal and Chief Executive of the College, Simon Cook, said "What an incredible evening full of achievements and celebration. Having alumni Charlotte Evans MBE back to deliver a speech to our students was inspirational and I hope it shows our students that they can achieve anything if they put their minds to it.

The commitment and passion our students put into their studies is inspiring. They’ve all worked tremendously hard this year and it’s paid off. I wish all the winners and finalists the best of luck in their future endeavours.”

We would like to extend our congratulations to our winners and finalists and thank those who attended to support them.

Lastly, thank you to our carpentry and graphic design students for all their help in creating props for the event.
