Every year MidKent College staff and students complete fundraising activities including exercise challenges, bake sales and raffles. This year we have chosen Spadework. Find out more about this fantastic charity in Maidstone.
We have chosen local charity Spadework as our charity partner to not only help to raise awareness of their fantastic work but to also contribute to the development of independence and social skills of the adults it works with.
For over 35 years, Spadework has provided care, skills and opportunities for adults with learning and other disabilities. The Trainees develop their communication and teamwork skills through engagement with the community, including at their on-site café, garden centre and room hire facilities. Their confidence and personal skills also improve, leading to a much more independent life in the Maidstone community.
Find out more about their site in West Malling here – and maybe pop in to their café, farm shop or sign up for their life skill classes too!
Executive director Chris Hare said “We’re proud to support this local charity in Maidstone, and are looking forward to encouraging more of our community to access the fantastic facilities they provide.”
