MidKent College Construction student Lindsey Todd has been selected as the winner of the CIOB Maidstone Hub Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement of the HNC Construction Management Course.

The Chartered Institute of Building is at the heart of a management career in construction. They are the world's largest and most influential professional body for construction management and leadership. They have a Royal Charter to promote the science and practice of building and construction for the benefit of society, and have been doing that since 1834. Their members work worldwide in the development, conservation and improvement of the built environment. The Maidstone Hub chairman, Kevin Hogwood FCIOB, together with the committee are delighted to be awarding their 2018 Achievement Award to Lindsey Todd.

MidKent College has a close association with the professional body, with CIOB awards being presented for many years and also winning CIOB Student Challenge competitions in previous years. Construction student Lindsey Todd has been at the College for a year, and is currently a contract manager for Orbit Homes.

She says, “My tutor told me I had been nominated for the award because I was doing so well in class. I feel very honoured to be nominated. This course has given me the creditability and respect on-site, as it’s given me a good understanding of what my team are doing.

I competed in the CIOB Student challenge in the winter, and was awarded Outstanding Student of the Night at the event! I recommend that other women get into construction as these days there’s so many opportunities; it’s so varied.”

Higher education Construction lecturer Mo Haghi said “I’m delighted to have nominated Lindsey for this wonderful award. She is a positive and dedicated student who has gained excellent results for her assignments.

I wish her all the best in her future career, and I’m certain whatever role she plays in the construction industry will be a successful one.”

We would like to congratulate Lindsey on her award, which was presented by CIOB’s representative, Maidstone Hub vice Chairman Peter Smith FCIOB at the MidKent College annual Student Awards
