Amy Pledge, Civil Engineering Technician at Considine, visited our Level 4 in Construction students to share about her experiences of the much sought-after QUEST scholarship.

Offered by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the QUEST Scholarship is a sign of excellence, and recognition for your skills and future potential.

Amy started in the construction industry completing reception and administration duties before securing a trainee technician role and starting an HNC in Construction.

She said “I was informed of the QUEST Technician Scholarship, and that I was eligible for it.

The application form contained a series of questions about my course, career plans, work experience and achievements, as well as how the scholarship would benefit me. My manager had to complete a supporting statement too.”

She continues: “The 30 minutes interview process required me to take along examples of my work, as well as being asked about my application form. I was later informed I had been awarded the scholarship.”

After Amy graduated she also had to complete a detailed final report incorporating all of her skills, achievements and career progression.

Every year MidKent College students apply for this scholarship. You can find out more about it here.

Finally – good luck to Amy as she is hoping to be awarded the EngTech professional status in January 2022!
