Students from our Foundation Education study programmes enjoyed a fantastic day at the Marriott Tudor Park Hotel recently trialling a range of job roles across the site.

This included cleaning, clearing golf balls from the driving range and laying the dining room tables ready for banquets.

Foundation Education study programmes are designed for school leavers with no formal qualifications and for those with additional learning needs who may be in receipt of an EHCP. During their programme they are supported to improve their English and maths grades as well as developing their personal, social and employability skills, so participating in work placements and enrichment activities is vital.

Their College tutor Emma Foxley said, β€œStudents had an immersive experience into entry level jobs, which gave them a real insight to what it would be like to work in a hotel in different areas The staff at the Tudor Park were absolutely amazing with our students, welcoming them and breaking down the instructions for them to follow. The hotel manager also came down to speak to them and answer questions at the end. Many of the students found the experience so useful, that they have already said they would like to work there. We are sending them to our Careers Team this week to spruce up their CVs in preparationWe hope to continue our partnership with Marriott Hotels with future visits. β€œ

Martha Collins, Widening Participation Officer here at the College said, β€œIt was such a great experience for the students and staff! The students were fantastic representatives for MidKent College."
