We are thrilled to share a heartwarming success story from our BTEC Level 3 Business students who recently showcased their entrepreneurial and community spirit through a social enterprise project.

Our students undertook the ambitious task of organising social enterprise events to support Sanctuary Supported Living, a charity dedicated to helping 16–18-year-olds transition from care to independent living. Sanctuary Supported Living provides invaluable assistance to these young individuals, offering guidance on job-seeking and creating a foundation for a self-sufficient life.

Working together, our students demonstrated remarkable teamwork and initiative. They organised a variety of fundraising activities, including raffles, GoFundMe campaigns, room decorations, board displays, cake sales, and sponsored runs. Their efforts raised funds to create essential living hampers filled with everyday essentials such as shampoos, washing-up liquids, shower gels, sponges, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

In addition to their fundraising activities, our students went above and beyond to support the charity's mission. They created practical resources, including cookbooks to assist with cooking skills, guides on independent living, and informative leaflets to raise awareness of the charity's work. They also applied their financial knowledge to develop budget plans tailored to the needs of the individuals supported by the charity. In total, our students assembled an impressive 76 hampers valued at approximately £1000. We recently welcomed a guest speaker from Sanctuary Supported Living to collect these generous donations.

Paige Russell, Deputy Local Service Manager at East Kent Young People Service, expressed her gratitude, saying, “I just wanted to say thank you again for your support and all your hard work in providing the donations for us. We were blown away by your kindness and all the donations you were able to provide. The donations you have provided will be incredibly helpful for our young people and will truly make a difference."

We are immensely proud of our students' dedication, initiative, and compassion. They organised themselves into groups, appointed managers, and departments, and executed the project with the professionalism of a well-established business.

Congratulations to our students on this remarkable achievement! Your efforts have not only made a significant impact on the lives of the young people supported by Sanctuary Supported Living but have also inspired our college community with your commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.

Well done!
