Students from across the College travelled to the Guildhall for the Queen’s Anniversary Prize celebration.

The prizes, awarded every two years, recognise outstanding work by UK Colleges and Universities across a range of disciplines including Science, Humanities, the Arts and many more. MidKent College has been the proud recipient of two previous Queen’s Anniversary prizes, but on this occasion we were very excited to be sending some of our students along to support the celebration dinner and procession in honour of this year’s winners.

A formal presentation of the awards takes place at Buckingham Palace, but prior to that a celebration meal is held at Guildhall. Students from our Travel & Tourism, Air Cabin Crew and Frontline Training study programmes took part in the procession whilst also running the Reception and helping to meet and greet prize winners and other dignitaries. Hairdressing and Make-up Artistry students went along to support those on the frontline with their hair and makeup, ensuring that they looked smart and presentable throughout the day. Hospitality and Catering students helped to serve food and wine at the tables with one lucky student working in the kitchen with the chef.

Mark Lampard Head of Department said “As well as being extremely valuable work experience, it’s a real honour to take part in such a prestigious event. Our students were a credit to the college and are to be congratulated on their excellent customer service skills and work ethic – well done guys!”
