A tribute to a remarkable Governor.

James WilliamsMidKent College mourns the loss of a highly-respected member of our community - James Williams, who sadly passed away following a short illness. His indelible mark on our College as a Governor and his passionate advocacy for education and community engagement will not be forgotten; his commitment to excellence and his unwavering dedication to helping others reach their full potential made him an exemplary role  model for students and staff alike.

Simon Cook, Principal and CEO, captures the sentiment felt across the College: "All of us at MidKent College were so privileged to have James on our Governing Body. He was such a positive force for good and made a huge contribution to our students and staff. It has been so humbling to hear the stories and memories our staff have of James, and all talk of his passion and commitment. He will be sorely missed by so many."

As Chair of the Governing Body, Martin Cook, echoes this sentiment, highlighting James's profound impact: "James was an active and committed Governor to MidKent College. His passion for the College and the work it does with young people in Medway was transparent to all. As one of his Governor colleagues said on hearing of his passing: 'he was the person we all wanted to be: humble, understated and always working to help people to achieve more than they thought they could.' He was an Olympian in fact but also in everyday spirit, a Commonwealth medallist, a mentor, and passionate supporter of his Community."

James's legacy extends far beyond his accomplishments in the sporting arena. He was a friend, a mentor, and a beacon of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His infectious personality and sense of humour touched the lives of countless individuals.

His memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of MidKent College, motivating us to reach greater heights and make a positive difference in the world.

Our thoughts are with James's family during this difficult time. May they find some comfort in knowing that his legacy will endure, inspiring generations to come.
